Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. chocolate cake mix
  • 2 cans dark sweet cherries
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Drain cherries, reserving the juice.
  2. Cook cherry juice with cornstarch until thickened.
  3. Stir cherries back into the thickened juice mixture.
  4. Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to package directions.
  5. Pour the cherry topping into a prepared baking dish.
  6. Spread the cake batter evenly over the cherry mixture.
  7. Bake according to cake mix instructions until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before inverting onto a serving plate.
