Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup white Karo syrup
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 egg whites
  • 3 oz. box cherry jello
  • 1 cup ground nuts

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar, Karo syrup, and water in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil over low heat, stirring occasionally, until a drop of syrup dropped into cold water forms a hard ball, about 15 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  4. Add cherry jello to the hot syrup mixture and stir until dissolved.
  5. Fold the hot mixture into the beaten egg whites gently.
  6. Shape the mixture into eggs and roll in ground nuts.
  7. Let set until firm before serving.
