Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 8 oz bitter chocolate
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 4 egg yolks

Instructions

  1. Melt the bitter chocolate.
  2. Beat the egg yolks until very light and fluffy.
  3. Gradually add the sugar to the yolks and beat well.
  4. Add the butter, vanilla, and milk to the mixture.
  5. Cook over low heat until just boiling, then boil for 1 minute.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the melted chocolate.
  7. Beat until the filling holds its shape.
  8. Spread the filling on the layers and sides of a 6-layer cake.
