Sweet preserved figs with a rich, syrupy glaze, ideal for spreading or pairing with cheese, perfect for gifting or enjoying as a decadent treat.

Ingredients

  • 3 c. water
  • 6 c. sugar
  • 9 c. figs, quartered

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar and water and bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
  2. Add chopped figs and cook slowly, stirring gently every 10 to 15 minutes.
  3. Cook until 2 drops of syrup come off the spoon at one time, approximately 1 hour but may take longer.
  4. Seal the jars and boil in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
  5. Remove from water bath and cool.
  6. Test for seal and store in a cool place.
