A vibrant and tangy cranberry sauce with orange zest and juice, perfect for holiday tables or as a sweet-tart accompaniment to poultry and festive dishes.

Ingredients

  • 1 orange
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 12 oz. bag cranberries

Instructions

  1. Grate all the zest off the orange.
  2. Mix orange zest with sugar in a medium saucepan.
  3. Squeeze juice from the orange into a measuring cup and add enough water to make 1 cup.
  4. Pour the orange juice and water mixture into the saucepan and stir to dissolve the sugar.
  5. Heat the mixture to a boil.
  6. Add the cranberries to the saucepan.
  7. Return the mixture to a boil.
  8. Reduce heat to a simmer.
  9. Boil gently until all cranberries pop, about 10-15 minutes.
  10. Stir often during cooking.
  11. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  12. Allow the cranberry sauce to cool in the saucepan.
  13. Pour the sauce into a serving dish.
  14. Cover and refrigerate before serving.
