Currant Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 box currants
  • 1 egg
  • milk

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, Crisco, baking powder and currants.
  2. Mix like pie dough.
  3. Beat egg in a cup and fill with milk to measure 1 cup.
  4. Add to dough; mix and
  5. knead.
  6. Flatten to about 1/2-inch and cut with a doughnut cutter or glass.
  7. Place on prepared cookie sheet and bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes.
  8. Check after 12 minutes.
  9. I like them softer rather than too baked as they tend to firm up after taking out of the oven.
