Ingredients

  • 4 squares unsweetened chocolate blocks
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Melt butter and chocolate over low heat in a heavy pan.
  2. Gradually stir in one-third of the sugar at a time.
  3. Add salt and slowly stir in evaporated milk a little at a time.
  4. Cook over low heat for 7-8 minutes, then remove from heat.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Use immediately on ice cream or cake, or store in the refrigerator for several weeks.
