- Sift dry ingredients into bowl.
- With fork or pastry blender, incorporate shortening into flour until like cornmeal.
- Gradually add milk, blending with fork until spongy, mixing in all the flour.
- Turn out onto floured board, kneading until smooth.
- Round up on board; cover with bowl and let rest 10 minutes.
- Uncover and work down.
- Pat out to desired thickness and cut.
