Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Cut shortening into the sifted flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Add milk and stir until just combined to form a soft dough.
  3. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll out to about 1/2 inch thickness.
  4. Cut into rounds using a biscuit cutter or glass.
  5. Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet and bake at 450°F for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
