- Next morning, empty the can of Ro-Tel into the crock-pot along with the rinsed beans.
- Add enough water to cover the beans, include the flavor packet from the bean package, and squeeze in the lemon juice.
- Cook on high for 6 hours, then turn to low and cook for an additional 4 hours.
- Add chili powder during the last hour of cooking.
- Serve the soup with Mexican cornbread and salad.
