- Combine 2 1/2 cups of granulated sugar, 1 1/2 cups of cocoa, 1/8 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 cup of hot water in a three-quart saucepan and stir until smooth.
- Add the remaining 1 1/2 cups of hot water and stir well.
- Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Boil for 2 minutes on medium heat.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
- Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and stir.
- Pour into a jar with a tight lid and store in the refrigerator.
