Egg Fondue

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. mild sausage meat
  • 5 slices white bread, cut into 1/4-inch cubes
  • 5 oz. American or Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 5 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard

Instructions

  1. Saute sausage until meat is no longer red.
  2. Drain.
  3. Put bread, sausage and cheese in layers in a casserole dish.
  4. Pour milk, eggs, salt and mustard mixture over it and bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until set.
  5. Makes a 3-quart casserole.
  6. Be sure casserole dish is only 3/4 full.
  7. May be prepared the night before, or frozen and baked later.
