Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 plain Hershey bars

Instructions

  1. Combine the sugar, butter, and water in a heavy saucepan.
  2. Cook at 300°F (hard crack stage), stirring constantly without burning.
  3. Add vanilla and pour into a buttered 9 x 9-inch pan.
  4. Lay 2 chocolate bars on top and spread them evenly as they melt.
  5. While still warm, sprinkle chopped pecans on top.
  6. Cool thoroughly and break into pieces.
