English Trifle is a delightful layered dessert featuring sponge cake, fresh strawberries, creamy pudding, and whipped topping, finished with toasted almonds. Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yellow cake mix
  • 1 (16 oz.) pkg. frozen strawberries
  • 1 pkg. vanilla pudding
  • 1 pkg. whipped topping (13 1/2 oz.)
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds

Instructions

  1. Bake the yellow cake in an oblong pan according to the directions on the box.
  2. Use half of the baked cake for the trifle.
  3. Break 1/4 of the cake into large pieces and place in a 2-quart serving bowl.
  4. Pour half of the thawed strawberries over the cake.
  5. Spread half of the prepared vanilla pudding over the strawberries.
  6. Repeat the layers: cake, strawberries, pudding.
  7. Chill the assembled trifle for at least 8 hours.
  8. Right before serving, spread whipped topping on top of the layers.
  9. Sprinkle toasted slivered almonds on top of the whipped topping.
  10. Spoon into dessert dishes to serve.
