Ingredients

  • 1 yeast cake
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening, melted
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Mix the yeast cake, salt, melted shortening, and sugar in a large bowl.
  2. Add 1 cup of warm water, the egg, and flour. Mix well until a dough forms.
  3. Let the dough rise in a warm area until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the dough to release air.
  5. Shape into rolls or refrigerate for later use.
  6. Let the shaped rolls rise a second time until puffy.
  7. Bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven until golden brown.
