Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 qt. warm milk
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast, dissolved in 1 c. warm water
  • 4 to 5 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Cream together sugar and shortening. Add milk. Add yeast dissolved in water. Mix in enough flour to make consistency of pancake mix. Let stand 1 hour. Add soda, baking powder, salt and enough flour to make a regular biscuit dough. Knead until smooth. Put into a large sized bowl and cover. Refrigerate. This dough will last for 10 days. Just take desired amount of dough and roll out on floured board. Cut biscuits. Place in greased pan and brush with melted butter. Bake at 400° until slightly brown. Makes 75 to 80 biscuits.
