Tips & Substitutions

To achieve the best fudge texture, ensure your sugar mixture reaches a rolling boil for the full 4 1/2 minutes without stirring. If you prefer, you can substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips for milk chocolate for a richer flavor. Adding a pinch of espresso powder can enhance the chocolate flavor significantly. For a nutty twist, consider incorporating walnuts or pecans.

Serving Suggestions

Cut the fudge into small squares and serve it alongside a warm cup of coffee or hot chocolate for a delightful treat. It pairs beautifully with Mary'S Cheese Strata for a cozy brunch. You can also garnish with sea salt or drizzle with melted chocolate for an extra touch.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftover fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. For longer storage, refrigerate it for up to a month. To enjoy the fudge later, simply bring it back to room temperature before serving, as this will restore its creamy texture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use different types of chocolate?

Yes, you can substitute dark chocolate or white chocolate chips for a different flavor profile. However, keep in mind that this may alter the sweetness level, so adjust the sugar accordingly.

How can I make the fudge less sweet?

To reduce sweetness, you can cut back on the sugar slightly or use darker chocolate, which tends to be less sweet than milk chocolate. Adding a bit of sea salt can also help balance the sweetness.

Is there a way to make this fudge dairy-free?

To make this fudge dairy-free, opt for dairy-free chocolate chips and substitute the evaporated milk with a plant-based alternative, such as coconut milk or almond milk. The texture may vary slightly, but it should still set nicely.
