Ingredients

  • young fern shoots, less than 12-inches long and curled
  • 2 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp. water

Instructions

  1. Wash ferns, using a brush to remove the brown flaky coating; cut into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  2. Saute bacon and garlic in a skillet until the bacon is crisp.
  3. Add ferns and water to the skillet.
  4. Simmer, tightly covered, until ferns are fork-tender, stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve like asparagus.
