Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 lb. chuck roast
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 pkg. dry onion soup mix
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp. thyme
  • Salt

Instructions

  1. Mix the cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup mix, red wine, water, and thyme in a bowl.
  2. Season the chuck roast with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Brown the seasoned roast in a skillet until browned on all sides.
  4. Place the browned roast in a slow cooker or baking dish and pour the soup mixture over it.
  5. Cover and cook in a 325°F (160°C) oven or slow cooker for about 3 hours until the meat is tender.
  6. Serve the pot roast with rice or baked potatoes.
