Ingredients

  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 c. + 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/3 c. warm water

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sugar over warm water.
  2. Sprinkle yeast over that and let stand in a warm place to double in size, about 10 minutes.
  3. Mix milk, sugar, flour, and yeast mixture in a plastic or glass container, about a 5 quart ice cream bucket size.
  4. Stir with a wooden spoon or fork (metal retards its natural growth).
  5. Leave the cover loose or place a glass plate over the container so it can breathe.
  6. Let the mixture double or even triple in size during vigorous rising.
