A fruity liqueur infused with ripe berries or fruit, sweetened with sugar and vodka, yielding a flavorful homemade spirit perfect for sipping or cocktails.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 gallon berries or fruit
  • 1 (2 lb.) box cubed sugar
  • vodka

Instructions

  1. Fill a 1-gallon wide-mouth jar two-thirds full of ripe, washed berries or fruit.
  2. Add the cubed sugar and press down with a wooden spoon to help dissolve.
  3. Fill the jar with vodka, covering the fruit and sugar completely.
  4. In a few days, the fruit will rise to the top; press down again and top with more vodka if needed.
  5. Seal the jar and let stand for 6 weeks, then strain into a bottle for storage.
