Decadent German Chocolate Bars combine rich chocolate, coconut, and pecans in a layered bar perfect for parties, potlucks, or satisfying a sweet tooth craving.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
  • 2/3 cup cold butter or margarine
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 (15 oz.) can coconut pecan frosting
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Place the German chocolate cake mix in a bowl.
  2. Cut in the cold butter or margarine until the mixture is crumbly.
  3. Press 2 1/2 cups of the crumb mixture into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
  4. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes.
  5. Immediately sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips over the baked crust.
  6. Drop the coconut pecan frosting by tablespoons over the chocolate chips.
  7. Stir the milk into the remaining crumb mixture.
  8. Drop the milked crumb mixture by teaspoons over the top of the frosting and chips.
  9. Bake for an additional 25 to 30 minutes or until bubbly around the edges and the top is cracked.
  10. Cool on a wire rack.
  11. Refrigerate for 4 hours before cutting and serving.
