Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups flake cereal
  • coconut (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix shortening, white sugar, and brown sugar together.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla, and mix well.
  3. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  4. Fold in flake cereal and coconut and nuts if desired.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto baking sheet.
  6. Bake at 375°F for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
