Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 envelope yeast
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Mix warm water, yeast, and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
  3. Place salt and flour in a separate large bowl.
  4. Add the yeast mixture to the flour mixture and stir until combined.
  5. Shape the dough into a pretzel shape or desired form.
  6. Beat the egg and brush it over the top of the pretzel.
  7. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 12 minutes until golden brown.
