Ingredients

  • 4 c. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Bring everything except vanilla, nuts and salt to a boil without stirring and continue until the mixture forms medium-hard balls when dropped in cold water.
  2. Remove from heat and let sit without stirring until lukewarm.
  3. Mix in vanilla, nuts and salt. Beat until it gets a dull glossy look.
  4. Quickly pour into buttered pan and cut into squares before it gets too hard.
