Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 c. thinly sliced onions
  • 1 lb. fresh green beans, cut in 1-inch pieces (4 1/2 c.)
  • 1/4 tsp. dried thyme leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. water

Instructions

  1. Cover husked corn with cold water, adding 1 teaspoon sugar per dozen ears. Bring to a boil and boil hard for 3 minutes.
  2. Turn off heat. Cover pot and let corn stay until wanted; the longer, the better.
