Ingredients

  • 5 eggs
  • 5 Tbsp. sugar
  • 5 Tbsp. butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 c. rum or any liquor
  • 1 lemon or orange peel, grated
  • 2 c. flour
  • 5 tsp. baking powder

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs; add sugar, butter, vanilla, rum and lemon or orange.
  2. Add 2 cups flour and baking powder and mix well, adding more flour until ingredients hold together.
  3. Roll out to very thin layer.
  4. Cut into 1-inch wide strips.
  5. Knot lightly and fry in deep hot fat.
  6. Drain on paper toweling.
  7. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Cool.
