Herb Broth
Ingredients
- 5 cups water ⓘ
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves ⓘ
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 tablespoons fresh marjoram ⓘ
- 1 tablespoon fresh oregano ⓘ
- 2 sprigs fresh Italian parsley ⓘ
- 2 slices lemon zest (about 2-inches long) ⓘ
- 1/2 lb onion, chopped ⓘ
- 4 garlic cloves, peeled and chopped ⓘ
- 1 small dried chili (or 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper) ⓘ
- 10 black peppercorns ⓘ
- 1 clove (whole) ⓘ
- 1 small cinnamon stick
- salt, to taste ⓘ
Instructions
- Place all ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Strain before using.
