Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. butter flavored Crisco
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 48 maraschino cherries, well drained on paper towel

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350°.
  2. Cream Crisco, sugar, egg, milk and vanilla in a large bowl at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Beat into creamed mixture at low speed.
  4. Press dough in a very thin
  5. layer around cherries.
  6. Place 2-inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10 minutes.
  8. Cool on baking sheet 1 minute.
  9. Remove to cooling rack.
  10. Cool completely.
  11. Dip in chocolate.
