Ingredients

  • 1 gal. water
  • 1/2 c. vinegar
  • 1/2 c. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • chopped cabbage

Instructions

  1. Mix water, vinegar, salt, and sugar together and bring to a boil.
  2. Using quart jars, place a teaspoon of salt in each jar.
  3. Pack chopped cabbage into the jars.
  4. Pour the hot mixture over the cabbage in each jar.
  5. Run a knife around the inside of the jars to ensure the liquid comes to the top.
  6. Seal the jars and set in a cool place to ferment.
