- Dissolve the lye in the cold water.
- Stir in the shelled corn and let stand for 15 hours.
- Drain off the lye water and put the corn in a sack.
- Rub and wash the corn in the sack through running water to remove hulls.
- Take the corn out of the sack and cook for 3 or 4 hours or until tender.
- Change the water 2 or 3 times while it is cooking.
