Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 packages yeast
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 1/2 - 7 cups all purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening, sugar, and salt together.
  2. Add 1 cup hot water and let cool.
  3. Add beaten eggs to the cooled mixture.
  4. Dissolve yeast in 1 cup tepid water and add to the mixture.
  5. Mix in the flour gradually until the dough is stiff.
  6. Cover the dough and refrigerate overnight.
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured board and cut with a biscuit cutter.
  8. Dab butter on each roll and let them rise for 2 hours.
  9. Bake at 400°F for 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown.
