Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 lb. butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Bring the butter to room temperature.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar; add eggs and mix well.
  3. Add vanilla and flour to the mixture.
  4. Roll out the dough to 1/8 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
  5. Cut with a cookie cutter and place on ungreased pans or on waxed paper on a breadboard.
  6. Chill the cookies for several hours or overnight.
  7. Brush the cookies with lightly beaten egg white and sprinkle with finely chopped nuts.
  8. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 10 minutes.
