Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Scald 1 1/2 cups of milk in a saucepan.
  2. Mix egg yolks with a fork and add sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
  3. Mix until smooth.
  4. Add 1/2 cup cold milk to the yolk mixture.
  5. Combine the scalded milk with the cold mixture.
  6. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over direct heat until it boils.
  7. Cool the pudding.
  8. Add vanilla extract.
  9. Pour into dessert dishes and chill before serving.
