Kluski are traditional Polish dumplings with a soft, tender texture, perfect as a side dish or with hearty meats like pork, beef, or with Czarnina soup.

Ingredients

  • 1 large raw potato
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • flour

Instructions

  1. Use a deep kettle 2/3 full of water and bring it to a boil.
  2. Peel the potato and grate it finely.
  3. Add salt to the grated potato.
  4. Gradually add flour to the grated potato, mixing until the mixture is very stiff and difficult to stir with a spoon.
  5. Drop half teaspoon-sized balls into boiling water a few at a time, being careful to prevent boiling over.
  6. Cook until the dumplings rise to the surface, indicating they are just about done.
  7. Remove the dumplings from the water and drain.
  8. Use with Czarnina or serve with pork chops, beef, or fried onions.
