Ingredients

  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 8 c mashed potatoes
  • 1/2 c cream or condensed milk heated
  • 3 Tbsp shortening
  • 2 1/2 c flour

Instructions

  1. Put the mashed potatoes through a ricer and let them cool.
  2. Add salt, sugar, heated cream or condensed milk, and shortening to the cooled potatoes and mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour to the potato mixture, kneading until a soft dough forms.
  4. Divide the dough into small portions and roll each out on a floured surface to thin rounds.
  5. Bake each round on a hot lefse grill or griddle until lightly browned on both sides.
