Ingredients

  • 1 package butter cake mix
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 (8 oz.) cartons sour cream
  • 2 (6 oz.) packages frozen shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Prepare the butter cake mix according to the package directions to make two layers.
  2. Bake the cake layers and allow them to cool completely.
  3. Split each cooled layer horizontally into two layers, resulting in four cake layers.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cream and sugar until smooth.
  5. Spread the sour cream mixture between the cake layers and over the top.
  6. Sprinkle the frozen shredded coconut over the assembled cake as desired.
  7. Chill the cake before serving to allow flavors to meld.
