Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 cups self-rising flour
  • 3/4 cup Crisco
  • 2 packages yeast

Instructions

  1. Mix flour and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Cut in Crisco until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add yeast to warm water and let it activate.
  4. Beat egg and add to yeast water.
  5. Combine wet ingredients with dry ingredients and mix until well blended.
  6. Fill greased muffin tins 3/4 full with the batter.
  7. Bake at 400°F for 20 minutes.
  8. Serve warm.
