Tips & Substitutions

For fluffier marshmallow eggs, ensure that your mixer is on high speed for the full 10 to 15 minutes. If you don't have Knox gelatine, you can substitute with agar-agar, but the texture may vary slightly. To prevent sticking, dust your hands with flour when handling the marshmallow mixture. You can also use powdered sugar instead of flour for a sweeter finish.

Serving Suggestions

These marshmallow eggs make a delightful treat on their own or can be served alongside a cup of hot cocoa or coffee. For a festive touch, consider pairing them with Martha Pafford'S Red-Eye Gravy for a unique breakfast experience. They also make excellent gifts when packaged in decorative boxes.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover marshmallow eggs in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Avoid refrigeration, as it can cause the chocolate to become sticky. If the chocolate has melted or softened, let it sit at room temperature to regain its shape before serving.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use flavored gelatin instead of Knox gelatine?

Yes, you can use flavored gelatin to create a fun twist on the classic marshmallow eggs. Just keep in mind that it will alter the flavor and color of your eggs, resulting in a more fruity or vibrant treat.

What can I do if my marshmallow mixture isn't setting?

If your marshmallow mixture isn't setting, it may be due to insufficient beating time or not reaching the soft ball stage when boiling the sugar. Make sure to follow the instructions closely and consider re-beating the mixture for a few more minutes.

How can I decorate my marshmallow eggs?

For decoration, you can use sprinkles, edible glitter, or small candies while the chocolate is still wet. Alternatively, drizzle melted chocolate or use colored icing to create fun designs on top of the eggs for a festive touch.
