- Cook potatoes until soft, drain, and mash until smooth.
- Add cream cheese, sour cream, onion salt, salt, pepper, and margarine to the mashed potatoes.
- Beat well until combined.
- If the mixture seems stiff, add warm milk and beat again.
- Cool the mixture slightly.
- Transfer to a buttered casserole dish.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes.
- Optionally, place dots of butter on top before baking.
