Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 5 Tbsp. warm water
  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 5 c. flour
  • 5 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 c. buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Blend in shortening with dry ingredients.
  3. Combine milk with yeast and add flour to make stiff dough.
  4. Cover and place in refrigerator.
  5. Make biscuits as needed. Put in cold oven; turn oven to 450°.
  6. Mix will keep in refrigerator up to two weeks.
