Meringue Tortes

Instructions
- Beat together the egg whites and cream of tartar until frothy.
- Gradually beat in sugar, a little at a time, until very stiff and glossy.
- Drop the meringue mixture by small spoonfuls in a circle on brown paper on a baking sheet.
- Bake at 275°F (135°C) for 1 hour.
- Turn off the oven and leave the meringues inside until the oven has cooled.
- Serve the meringue tortes filled with ice cream and topped with fresh berries.
