Ingredients

  • 1/2 head cabbage
  • 1 1/2 tsp. oleo
  • 1 c. shredded carrots
  • 1 c. thin sliced celery
  • 1 tsp. flour
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. celery salt
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper

Instructions

  1. Quarter the cabbage; cook in salted water until crispy tender (8 to 12 minutes); drain.
  2. In a saucepan, melt oleo.
  3. Add shredded carrots and thin sliced celery; cook until tender.
  4. Remove from heat; stir in flour and add milk.
  5. Cook until mixture boils and thickens slightly.
  6. Add shredded Swiss cheese, celery salt, nutmeg, and pepper; stir until cheese is melted.
  7. Pour the sauce over the cooked cabbage.
