Ingredients

  • 2 lb. beef for stew, cut in 1-inch cubes
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 (1 1/2 oz.) package brown gravy mix with mushrooms
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 stalks celery, cut in 1-inch slices
  • 3 medium carrots, sliced
  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and cut in eighths

Instructions

  1. Place beef cubes in a 3-quart microproof casserole or baking dish.
  2. Sprinkle the beef with salt.
  3. Stir together the gravy mix and water, then pour over the meat.
  4. Cover and cook on 70% (Roast) power for 50 minutes, stirring once during cooking.
  5. Add the vegetables and mix to coat with gravy.
  6. Cover and cook on 50% (Simmer) power for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the vegetables and meat are tender.
  7. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
