Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. butter or oleo
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 2 c. plain flour
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250°.
  2. Cream together sugar and butter. Add egg
  3. yolk, vanilla, salt, almond extract and sifted flour. Grease shallow
  4. 16

  6. 11-inch
  7. pan and press the cookie dough flat. Beat
  8. egg
  9. white
  10. with
  11. sugar
  12. until frothy.
  13. Spread on batter. Pat
  14. nuts
  15. into
  16. dough.
  17. Bake
  18. 1 1/2 hours; cut while warm. Remove from pan.
  19. Makes about 36.
