- Dissolve gelatin in 1/2 c. water. Boil remaining water with sugar, syrup and vanilla until it reaches the soft ball stage. Remove from heat; add gelatin. Beat until cool and white. Add egg whites; beat for 5 minutes. Turn out into a pan generously dusted with powdered sugar. When set, cut into squares with a sharp knife dipped in cold water. Roll squares in powdered usage.
