Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 1/2 c. melted shortening
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. soda (in milk)
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • nutmeg, salt, cassia
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Mix as ingredients are given, putting the egg in after other ingredients are well mixed.
  2. Bake at 350° until done, 20 minutes or more.
