- Chop the large sweet onion finely.
- Combine the chopped onions with water, vinegar, and sugar; bring to a boil.
- Let the mixture cool overnight.
- Drain the onions the next day.
- Use white bread, trimming off brown edges.
- Spread mayonnaise and powdered sugar on the bread slices.
- Add about 1 teaspoon of the drained onions onto each slice.
- Put the slices together to form finger sandwiches.
- Cut the sandwiches into finger-sized pieces.
- They can be frozen and thawed to use later.
