Orange Pears

Ingredients

  • 8 halves fresh or canned pears
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. white sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch or 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 tsp. orange rind
  • 1/2 tsp. lemon rind
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. orange juice

Instructions

  1. Sift white sugar with cornstarch.
  2. Blend with other ingredients.
  3. Cook in heavy saucepan over medium heat until sauce thickens.
  4. Arrange pear halves in baking dish.
  5. Spoon sauce over pears.
  6. Bake at 350° for 15 minutes.
  7. Serve warm.
  8. If fresh pears are used, check for tenderness of pears.
  9. They may need to bake a little longer.
