Ingredients

  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. shortening
  • 3/4 c. milk

Instructions

  1. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  2. Mix in shortening with fingertips until crumbly.
  3. Add milk gradually to make a soft dough.
  4. Roll out the dough into a 1/4-inch thick sheet.
  5. Spread with orange filling over the rolled dough.
  6. Roll up like a jelly roll and cut into 1-inch slices.
  7. Place slices on a baking sheet and sprinkle with sugar and grated orange rind.
  8. Bake in a moderate oven at 350°F until lightly browned.
